Nyangumarta Highway Permit
Nyangumarta Highway is a significant route traversing Nyangumarta Country in the northwest of Western Australia. It plays an important role in connecting remote communities, supporting access to key cultural sites, and enabling traditional land management activities.
The highway holds cultural significance for the Nyangumarta people, as it crosses landscapes that are rich in heritage and ecological diversity. The Nyangumarta Warrarn Aboriginal Corporation works to ensure that the highway is managed in a way that respects and protects the land, while facilitating sustainable use for tourism, cultural practices, and regional development.
Please purchase your Nyangumarta Highway permit below. All proceeds go into maintaining the highway and managing the impact on the surrounding environment. Take a copy of your permit with you please!
The Nyangumarta Highway is a very remote trek and you should only attempt it if you are experienced in remote travel, well equipped and have a reliable four wheel drive. It is also travelled by large trucks from time to time. Please consider the risk before you attempt the trek and plan accordingly.
Please note that the permit only applies on the Nyangumarta highway which is approximately 310kms and traverses the Nyangumarta native title determination as shown on the map below. If travelling further east onto the Martu native title determination you will need to seek guidance from Jamukurnu Yapilikurnu Aboriginal Corporation www.jyac.com.au
