Land Access and Cultural Heritage

To protect our cultural heritage on Nyangumarta native title lands, we travel on country regularly with elders and young people to visit our sites, to teach our law and to ensure our stories are being passed. To manage impacts on our land from proponents seeking to undertake land disturbance activities, we undertake a range of actions including:

  • Managing heritage requests under state and federal laws

  • Conducting heritage surveys to identify important cultural sites.

  • Submitting and maintaining heritage information to support ongoing protection.

  • Providing advice on cultural and environmental matters.

  • Reviewing environmental reports to safeguard heritage and the environment.

  • Engaging with stakeholders on environmental and heritage protection.
